The homeowners wanted cabinetry that combined contemporary styling with the warmth of natural timber. Fine Design Furniture achieved this through a carefully selected combination of 2Pac painted cabinetry, Ironbark veneer, premium stone surfaces, brass fingerpull handles and integrated Gaggenau appliances.
With cabinetry being installed across numerous areas of the house, one of the most important considerations was maintaining consistency in materials, colours and finishes.
The cabinetry externals incorporated 2Pac paint finished in Dulux Dieskau at 30% satin, paired with Ironbark veneer in a subtle 10% matt finish. The neutral tone of Dieskau provides an elegant backdrop, while the natural character of Ironbark introduces warmth and texture.
Because natural timber veneer varies in grain and colour, Fine Design Furniture carefully hand-selected the Ironbark veneer used throughout the project. This was particularly important given the scale of the fit-out and the amount of timber required.
Where individual veneer or timber sections did not provide a sufficiently consistent colour match, custom colour matching was undertaken to tone the materials. This allowed the team to achieve a highly consistent appearance while retaining the authentic character and grain of the natural timber.
The kitchen is one of the centrepieces of the home and presented an additional design and installation challenge due to its impressive raked ceiling.
Rather than allowing the unusual ceiling geometry to compromise the cabinetry design, Fine Design Furniture carefully tailored the joinery to complement the architectural lines of the space.
The cabinetry combines the Dulux Dieskau 2Pac finish with Ironbark veneer, creating a sophisticated balance between contemporary styling and natural materials. Brass fingerpull handles add another layer of detail, introducing a warm metallic accent without overpowering the cabinetry.
Premium Gaggenau appliances were incorporated into the kitchen design, with the cabinetry precisely constructed to provide a seamless, integrated appearance.
The kitchen island was finished with SNB Stone Exuma Grey, providing a striking yet understated surface that complements both the painted cabinetry and Ironbark veneer.
Two distinctive stone finishes were selected for different areas of the residence.
SNB Stone Exuma Grey was used for the kitchen island as well as cabinetry surfaces within the master robe and bathrooms. Using the same stone across these spaces helps establish a visual connection between different areas of the home.
Caesarstone Cloudburst Concrete was selected for the rumpus room, cellar, BBQ area and scullery. Its concrete-inspired appearance complements the contemporary cabinetry and provides a practical surface for these high-use areas.
Attention to detail extended even to the electrical outlets. Flush-mounted GPOs were carefully recessed into the stone, avoiding the visual interruption of conventional surface-mounted power points and contributing to the clean, streamlined finish.
